My Parenting Success Story

The other day I asked Oliver what he wanted for dinner. (Note: Open ended questions like this are always dangerous with children.)
He told me that he wanted goldfish for dinner. (The snacks, not actual fish.)

I wanted to take his ideas into consideration, so we compromised. For every goldfish he ate, he would also eat a leaf of baby spinach, thus getting him some nutrition without attempting five different meals that he would refuse outright and just waste.

He agreed to the compromise, and probably ate about a cup of baby spinach. After a few bites, we started wrapping goldfish in spinach leaves, because he wanted “presents”.

This worked and I highly recommend it.
